
Dr. Salgado’s work centers Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color (BIPOC) with an emphasis on Latinx communities. She considers herself a generalist, with the following areas of specialty:
- Trauma (e.g., intergenerational/historical trauma, racial trauma, sexual assault, childhood abuse, political asylum related victimization, victims of crime, & PTSD)
- Integration of Ancestral Indigenous Spiritual Practices & Eastern Energy Work (Reiki & Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, also known as tapping)
- Identity Development & Exploration (e.g., ethno- racial, sexual orientation and gender)
- Maternal Mental Health, including parenting support, maternal self-care & reclaiming the self
- Overcoming Imposter Phenomenon & Burnout Prevention for BIPOC Professionals
- Women’s Mental Health & Life Role Transitions
- Immigration Related Issues (e.g., immigration trauma, acculturative stress, coping with family separation, living undocumeted, & DACA recipients)
- Grief & Loss (e.g., death of a loved one, life role transitions & other forms of loss)
- Spiritual Exploration
- Relational Issues (e.g., mother-daughter relationships, family issues, romantic relationships, interpersonal dynamics)
